Fitzgerald High School has recently made new rules regarding cell phones. We are not allowed to have our cell phones where teachers or staff can visibly see them, and they are supposed to take them if they see them , even if we aren’t using them. We used to be able to use them during breakfast and lunch and if a teacher saw them, we’d get a warning. Now they have to take them immediately. This rule has been put in place due to number of fights at school recently, but taking our cell phones really won’t stop it. People can schedule fights outside of school and still fight at school. This rule is so harmful because the students have to pay money to get their own property back! Phones are expensive enough to begin with and if a student has a personal issue and needs to use their phone, they have to wait 10-30 days to get it back from the school after the first offense or pay money.
