Many students in the Boston Latin School community have complained about why teachers just don’t round their grades at the end of each term or midterm to have grades more in their favor. This is more beneficial for students who want to bump themselves up a whole letter grade (e.g; C+ to B- or D+ to C-). This looks better on a student’s term grade. For example, if a student has a 79.9 and they don’t want that C+, teachers should be permitted to round that student’s grade to an 80 so they have a B- instead of a C+. Many students, especially in my grade level, are worried about not getting to where they need to be in the class if they don’t have that motivation of the rounding system in the school policy. With this in place, students can ease up on the trouble of worrying about earning their exact grade or higher with rounding.
