The Lamar County School Board recently posted on Facebook about the new dress code requirements. In the post they say “Students should be able to dress for school in a manner that expresses their individuality as long as it does not interfere with the learning process and health and safety of other students…” As a student that has grown up hunting, fishing, and being outdoors I am used to wearing a hat. Hats are very simple, they help people express themselves. Towards the end of this last school year, LGBTQ+ had a sign on a main hall in Oak Grove High School for support. If people are allowed to freely express the support for groups such as LGBTQ+, students should be allowed to wear hats as well.
