I'm signing because the arts are a form of expression for many and taking that away will leave many without a way to express themselves.

I'm signing because HB stands for all of us - Athletes, academics, singers, actors, scientists, STUDENTS - eager to learn and practice their craft. This cannot be done without the performing arts department. I am saddened to read that this is even for consideration.

The arts help to create a cultural tapestry of stories that enrich the lives of our youth. Live performances can provide moral, ethical, social, humanitarian and intellectual guidance! The creative, outside of the box thinking allows a space for free thinkers to imagine endless possibilities and be the future creators, inventors, artists, leaders, writers, and directors that society looks to as a compass for understanding our collective human condition. If robots are the future for many jobs, than the Arts will be even more important for human work and jobs.

Art and music bring people together in ways nothing else can. It lights up the brain for memory and empathy. Nothing else gives people that goose-bump, raised hair, tingly all over feeling quite the way art and music do. It is integral to memory for people with dimentia and Alzheimer's, and critical for babies and small children learning, yet somewhere in the middle, we forget it's importance.
