Online petition against closing of the UVCE & B M S Evening Engineering Colleges in Bangalore
UVCE (Govt. institution) & BMS EVENING COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (also a Govt. aided institution) is offering undergraduate degrees in engineering program under lateral entry scheme, for working diploma candidates with minimum of 2 years of experience. With the legacy of more than four decades, B M S Evening College of Engineering has helped and provided an opportunity to large number of low income group/socially backward working group of professionals to pursue higher studies and enabled them to accomplish higher goals. All these years the institution has utilized the state of the art large infrastructure facilities of BMS College of Engineering from class room to laboratories.
The closure of the above institution will certainly deprive large number of diploma professionals specially working in Public sector industries like HAL, BHEL, BEL, ISRO, BMRC and many private sector industries, including software companies who aspire to develop their technical and analytical skills. This will be indirect loss to the above institutions.
It is heartening to note that some of the alumni of the institution also occupy coveted position both in public and private sector industries
Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the working diploma working professionals were overloaded with the production targets leading to fall in admission for the academic year 2020-21
