Harveys Lake: Sandy Beach Restoration

Harveys Lake: Sandy Beach Restoration
Why this petition matters

Dear lake lovers and outdoor enthusiasts! This is our opportunity to acquire and restore a piece of Harveys Lake waterfront for the public to enjoy! Harveys Lake is the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania and surprisingly does not have any lakefront available to the public, aside from the PA Fish and Boat Commission Boat Launch. A group of citizens committed to restoring the former Sandy Beach property needs your help! We are seeking public support to acquire and restore the former Sandy Beach property. The property does not come with a small price tag and is currently listed for $2.5 million. We are researching opportunities to make this dream a reality. This is no small feat, so we need your signatures to show Harveys Lake Borough just how much community support is behind this endeavor.
We have conducted extensive research on grants available for this type of project and have even considered forming a non-profit organization to assist with the grant application and fundraising process. Unfortunately, many of these grants are only available to established non-profits (not start-ups) and municipalities. This is where the Borough of Harveys Lake comes in. We are planning to ask Council to consider a partnership with us, in which they could apply for grants, while we focus on community funding. Personally, I’m willing to invest in this incredible endeavor, and I hope you are as well! All donations, whether in the form of time, money, ideas, or signatures for this petition will help us achieve this goal. Let’s put Harveys Lake on the map again, for its beauty, tranquility, and accessibility to everyone, regardless of whether you live at Harveys Lake, or would simply enjoy spending a day lakeside on the restored Sandy Beach property! We are planning to present this petition to the Harveys Lake Council during their next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday May 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the Harveys Lake Borough Building. The public is welcome to attend this meeting. Thank you for your time and consideration.
