Elliot Reed, a 50-year-old black man, was beaten and knocked unconscious while out riding his bike in his own neighborhood. Reed suffered multiple cuts, a broken tooth, a broken cheekbone and a ruptured blood vessel in his eye. 
Despite the seriousness of the injuries, the attacker, 25 year old Colin Fries, who allegedly used racial slurs during the attack was only charged with misdemeanor battery and released on $100 bond. 
This attack clearly caused serious bodily injuries and should be a felony with a hate crime enhancement.

I am calling on the Harris County prosecutor’s office to do the right thing and charge Fries with a felony.
