Taylor Behm started this petition to Harnett County Board of Commissioners

Harnett County is full of families with strong roots, multigenerational farms still in use, and acres of land where children can grow up with the opportunity to enjoy childhood by exploring nature and being outside.

I grew up in Harnett County when all there was to do was spend time with ALL your family, work on the farm, go to church and go to school. I chose to live on my family farm, which has been operational for more than 100 years, because I wanted my children to experience the simple joys of being a child.  My children love to play on the farm, ride their bikes and four wheelers, fish at the pond, explore in the woods, practice their sports in the yard, watch all the different animals from the porch, and have friends over to play and play and play.  Nothing makes me happier than to see my kids enjoying life outside. I hope my family is able to keep our farm so my grandkids and generations to come can enjoy what my grandfather and his family worked so hard to preserve.

Growth is inevitable, but the current growth rate in Harnett County is quickly demolishing the rural heritage we have come to love. In an effort to preserve the agricultural resources and rural heritage of Harnett County, we respectfully ask the Harnett County Board of Commissioners to limit density and quantity of new subdivisions.  Already overcrowded schools and roads are not prepared for such uncontrolled growth.

North Carolina is quickly becoming a technology-based state, but wouldn't it be nice to do all we can to protect our little corner of the world, so we can escape the fast pace whenever we want?
