As parents and school officials the health and safety of our students and staff should be our number one priority in all decisions and requirements in our school.

The executive order issued by governor Abbott which can be read here > https://gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/press/EO-GA-38_continued_response_to_the_COVID-19_disaster_IMAGE_07-29-2021.pdf is not based on scientific facts and is not contemplating the actual current rapid surge of the Covid 19 Delta variant.  Hospitalizations are not declining as stated in the order.

Based on real science and hard facts and guidance provided by the Federal Government and the CDC   https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/index.html Harmony Schools need to require face masks for all vaccinated and not vaccinated individuals to prevent or mitigate the spreading of Covid 19 specially this new Delta variant, this is by far the most cost effective and best measure to prevent spreading since sharing the same room/air/area is the most effective way to contract Covid.

We urge for the harmony school district to impose the mask mandate to help prevent further infections and defy the governor’s orders to save lives. If we don’t act now people may die unnecessarily.

The executive order is imposing a fine for the district that does not obey the mandate of up to $1000.00. We are more than willing to cover the cost of that fine.

If Harmony Schools are all about science & engineering, then the scientific method that the school so profoundly encourages and preaches should be applied here to this current situation and leave non-sense, fact less, subjective, opinions to the side. It is time to honor the school principle and fundamentals based on facts and reality to save lives.
