Britainsgotnoise started this petition to Haringey Planning Service and

We the undersigned feel misled by planning application HGY/2020/1460. We would have commented within the deadline had we been truly informed of the site's actual location. We'd like at least one week's further comments window so residents newly informed where the site will truly be, can now comment.

The Application map clearly shows the site for a new residential block of flats sheltered behind two three-storey residential blocks.

But the true position is 70 yards around a corner in open space exposing 64 Northwood Hall apartments, 12 Hornsey Lane Gardens houses and 4+ Oldfield Mews houses to immediate construction site noise for 70 weeks. The surround-sound "amphitheatre" acoustics of Northwood Hall will make this greatly louder and carry further.

None of these 80 dwellings had reason to suspect this disruption from the Planning Application map. Now that the real location is known, we feel we were denied the right to comment on what will certainly blight our lives. Some may be hindered in selling or letting their property within the next two years because of the building-site (and maybe have a case for legal action against the council for planning misinformation?).

We do not accept the official line: "Construction noise is not a planning consideration." It IS a consideration. We want a say in the working hours.

55 hours a week of sustained 100+ decibel industrial noise from: excavation vehicles, earth-movers, pile-drivers. angle-grinders, vehicles beeping, electric-sanders, hammering, drilling, generators, circular saws, etc - IS a consideration to 150 people closely affected by this application.

For the sake of 30+ children in the affected residences we want NO SITE WORK AFTER 4.30pm because children should not endure 90 minutes of noise after a long school day.

For the sake of us who work 60 hour weeks and deserve proper rest at weekends, we want NO SITE WORK ON SATURDAYS whatsoever, in addition to none on Sundays and public holidays.

Again, for the sake of children, we want four hours of no machinery each weekday during school holidays and half-terms.

Please can there be some humane decision-making? 55 hours a week is too much. For the sake of our health, and our children's development and mental and physical health, please limit construction site hours to 7.30-4.30 weekdays only. 45 hours a week, not 55.
