Crouch End West -Low Traffic Neighbourhood

Crouch End West -Low Traffic Neighbourhood
Why this petition matters

High Volume through traffic has become an issue in Crouch End West particularly particularly for long straight roads such as Avenue Rd / Claremont Rd. The introduction of Sat Navs allows people to use small residential roads as a cut through route more frequently, which impacts on residents livelyhood. Increased through-traffic has the following consequences:
- Impacts on life quality of local residents through increased noise and air pollution levels
- By travelling through people are more likely to ignore 20mph speed limit, speeding puts peoples live at risk and leads to damage of residents cars
- The narrowness of road means th huge numbers of cars can’t pass and frequently drive on to the pavement to allow passing and pavement gets damaged
- The constant traffic flow changes the character of these otherwise lovely neighbourhood roads into an unpleasant place where people don’t want to let their children play walk to school, cycle or dawdle on
This petition asks Haringey Council to create a Crouch End West low traffic neighbourhood. Any Road shown in white on the map (except Stanhope Road) would than only be accessible for residents, deliveries and emergency vehicles.
Traffic restrictions would either be imposed through CCTV monitoring or bollards and Haringey Council would need to consult on the technical details with the residents. Please sign to support this proposal.
