As many as 235,000 Canadians experience homelessness in a year, and women make up for 27 percent of this figure. On any given night there are at least 30,000 Canadians living on the streets. These women who may find it hard enough to pull together food and shelter on a daily basis, cannot afford necessary sanitary products such as pads and tampons. As well, feminine products are the number #1 requested product by homeless and woman's shelters, as they are expensive and not often donated. Feminine products are a necessity and menstruating woman need them to stay hygienic, healthy and dignified. This is why the government needs to make these products accessible and provide them for homeless woman in Toronto.
