Jessica Bertoa started this petition to Hardyston Township Board of Education

The current principal is currently in her 4th year as Principal of Hardyston Elementary School. Please sign this petition in support of not giving her a new contract. We need a principal that will work with our staff, our families, and our students to better our schools!

The current principal handles disciplinary issues inequitably, therefore bullying has become a severe situation within our school as well as on our buses. There have been many instances that clearly show that her policy enforcement is variable depending on her relationship with the student/family that is involved. There also have been instances where it appears parents and staff believe/feel that The principal  herself exhibits a bully demeanor, and uses bully tactics towards the students and parents, as well as staff.

There is no two way communication for families. She does not listen to families concerns or take them into consideration. It’s been made clear that Her  outlook on the schools environment is very “cut and dry”, and that she lacks the basic empathy that should be required of someone who holds such a position. She’s not sensitive to individual children’s communication styles, circumstances, personal issues, and ultimately isn’t able to bridge that gap to create an optimal culture in the school.

The current principal is creating  a hostile work environment for teachers and staff that don’t agree with her 100% of the time. It’s needless to say that a hostile work environment in an elementary school is subpar on the administrations end to say the least. Our teachers, staff and bus drivers deserve the freedom to speak their minds, disagree, or debate a situation without the fear of retaliation. When our teachers are not comfortable in their environment, how can we expect them to make our children comfortable? How can a hostile work environment be a good learning environment? It can not.

We have the opportunity to let our voices be heard, and do our best to put a stop to the culture and environment that has been exposed. Please sign this petition to help demand better from our administrators and board members.
