A Student Of HBTU started this petition to Harcourt Butler Technical University

In view of the recent pandemic that is consuming the whole world, it is not advised to conduct examinations offline. There are various arguments against the offline examinations:

1. Students coming from different region might get affected by the COVID-19 during the travel and even if the university is following the necessary protocols, it will be very risky if there is no quarantine period.

2. There is no provision of quarantine. At least 14 days quarantine and 7 days for travelling must be ensured by the University.

3. It doesn't matter if the university is open for 5 days or 5 months the risk of getting the virus is equal.

4. We all are aware of the fact that a new strain of the virus is spreading across the country. So opening of the university just for the sake of taking examination may prove to be fatal for students' lives.

5. Students have their GATE examination during the first week of February and if a student is affected by the virus during university examination he/she along with many others may not be able to give their GATE examination. This will not be appreciated.

We as students understand the concern of the university and no doubt offline examination ensures fair conduction but this is a very crucial time. Students are willing to give online examinations even if they are subjective in nature. There are various softwares that allows proctoring and with the use of these softwares, fair conduction of online examination can be ensured. It is therefore requested to look into these concerns of students and take appropriate measures.
