REFUSE PLANNING PERMISSION FOR HOUSES ON LAND OFF WINCKLEY CLOSE, HOUGHTON-ON-THE-HILL
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
Since early 2016, William Davis Ltd have made three planning applications to build houses on land off Winckley Close/North Way. Nearly 300 local residents objected to the first two of these applications with not a single comment in support.
Our elected councillors on Harborough District Council's Planning Committee refused permission for each of the first two applications. William Davis Ltd appealed unsuccessfully against rejection of the first application, then appealed against the second rejection and have, as of today (24 March 2017), lodged a new third application.
Houghton on the Hill’s emerging Neighbourhood Plan is at an advanced stage and states an overwhelming preference for development on the north side of the village where planning permission for 87 new houses has already been granted. The developers are fully aware of this but continue their aggressive drive to develop elsewhere before the Neighbourhood Plan can be enacted.
Building on the Winckley Close site is contrary to residents’ stated wishes andthe well-considered objectives of the emerging Neighbourhood Plan. It is also in opposition to the majority decisions taken by our elected Councillors.
Interested parties only have until 6 April 2017 to register comments on the second appeal and the new application on the Harborough District Council’s website - both links are below. However you may find this petition to be an easier and quicker way to express local opinion.
Please register your opposition to the current William Davis Ltd appeal and the new application by signing this petition. The petition will be delivered to the Planning Inspectorate and Harborough District Council on 6 April 2017 and therefore we request your support by no later than 6 April 2017. The petition will continue to remain open after this date. A written petition is also available in Houghton Post Office. Please make your voice heard.
