The ongoing tram line build on leith walk has led to constant harassment & catcalling of women using leith walk to go about their day. I for one have received substantial amount of harassment, catcalling and general vile unwanted attention from groups of workmen on almost a daily basis for the past two years and I’ve had enough, since talking about my issue I’ve heard multiple stories from other women with regards to the same behavior and the effect it’s having on theirs and my mental and general wellbeing. I’ve been in touch with the police multiple times and the office that deals with Human Resources for the tram company and honestly not much has been done. The work end date keeps getting extended which fills me with dread. I live directly on leith walk and my front door leads onto the worksite. I’m petitioning for signatures to hopefully make Edinburgh council take notice and do something serious about it.
