Why this petition matters

Started by Justin Hendricks

We the people, who reside and pay taxes in Hampton, Virginia both part time and full time, recognize the right to defend ourselves, our family and all law abiding citizens against all enemies, foreign and domestic, with firearms as provided by the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States- The Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

We feel the upcoming proposals by the Virginia State Legislature to restrict further the types of firearms we can legally own and possess, and to restrict the training on the proper and safe use of those firearms, is an act of tyranny, and violates our Constitutional rights.

We propose that the Board of Supervisors votes to make Hampton, Virginia a Second Amendment Sanctuary City to protect our Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms, as per the Constitution of the United States of America, without any further restrictions as the laws of the State of Virginia have in effect as of December 4th 2019.

The upcoming proposals by Virginia State Legislature will effectively make many citizens of the State felons as well as many of the Active Duty Military personnel residing in this area. This can potentially ruin many careers and result in the incarceration of many law abiding citizens for simply exercising their Second Amendment Right to keep and bear arms.
