Aaron O’Connor started this petition to Hampstead and Kilburn CLP and

Re-run the votes at the May Hampstead and Kilburn GC meeting before the deadline (11 June 2021) or an extension must be provided.

1. The Zoom meeting was set to a limit of 100 participants and many GC delegates could not enter making all votes null and void

- Difficulties experienced with the online voting system also blocked delegates who were present from voting: complaints were ignored or suppressed

2. All Motions need to be discussed and voted upon

- Only one out of 9 motions was discussed!

3. Voting was confused and as such null and void

- The EC suggested: 1) To employ a constituency full timer, and separately, 2) To save money by sending 3 instead of 9 delegates to conference which would help pay for a constituency full timer

- The vote for this was not posed as sending 3 conference delegates or 9 but, "Do you agree with the EC's recommendation?"

- Which recommendation this was pertaining to was unclear and participants were under the impression that the vote was two-fold

- We want the widest democracy and representation

- Individual votes do count

- Money was already saved by not having a conference last year

- Ultimately counterposing the full democratic representation of our constituency against the employment of a constituency full-timer was not the view of the membership but the view of the Executive Committee

4. Non-inclusive atmosphere

- Members could not vote because they arrived late due to being locked out. After the member challenged the decision, the vice chair simply said, "Too bad!"

- All participants were muted, a member was cut off mid speech, while another was left with their hand up for 30 minutes

- This meant people went unheard, the meeting ran slow and co-hosts had to mute/ unmute on top of (mis)handling the online voting

We cannot stand for these local attacks on democracy and suppression of membership which are in-line with the Starmer's style of attacking the membership while cosying up to big business. This has led to a complete betrayal of the interests of workers and youth which is reflected in the decreasing support for Starmer and the results of the May by-election.

We must fight back wherever this crops up, at all levels. The Labour Party needs to unite around bold socialist policies at September's conference as a response to the crisis of the pandemic afflicting workers and youth!

Re-run the vote!
