Build pedestrian crossings at junction of Fleet Road and Kings Road to prevent accidents

Crossing the road at the junction of Fleet Road and Kings Road in Fleet is a nightmare for local residents. Every day, parents and school children are risking their safety by dashing across the busy roads to get to school or nursery.
I believe that pedestrian crossings across both Fleet Road and Kings Road, at the junction where traffic lights are already in place, are urgently required.
At the moment, people are forced to stand in the narrow central island of Kings Road, many with pushchairs, as lorries and cars whizz round the corner at speed. And the traffic is heavy and relentless on Fleet Road, where the nearest crossing is up near town and approximately 300m away - a long round trip for many people.
I understand that pedestrian crossings may slow down the traffic flow slightly. But this is a small price to pay for the safety of local people, and without a crossing here - near a cluster of nurseries in Stockton Avenue - I worry that an accident is inevitable.
Our baby daughter is starting nursery at Heath House in September, and I am already dreading the twice-daily dash across traffic. For the safety of her and others, I hope the council will seriously consider installing pedestrian crossings.
