Respect trans rights at Hammond Park Secondary College
Lately as a school community we have been noticing that many staff members have not been respecting the students of this college in ways that are disgusting. The students of this school have asked that the college respects peoples pronouns and chosen names. The students at Hammond Park do not feel safe in a place that they go to for 30 hours a week. School should be a place of inclusivity and learning not discrimination and bullying. This behaviour is disgusting and should not be tolerated at our supposed "inclusive environment". We (the students) ask that you do the simple task of respecting our basic human rights, pronouns and chosen names. By doing this it would show that our school isn't just a place of learning, but a place of acceptance and inclusivity. This school may be able to stick some purple on some doors, but can it actually put the work in to respecting its students.
