Hammersmith Bridge had been closed to road traffic for some time now, but has recently been closed to pedestrians and cyclists. It has also been closed to any and all river traffic, including vital services such as the RNLI. It has stopped various passenger boat operators from heading into London, and given the COVID-19 ramifications, has all but hammered the final nail into the coffin of certain companies. Something needs to be done to ensure that traffic flows freely, not only on the river, but along the roads. Urgent action needs to be taken to ensure the safe traversal of road users and the river community alike.
