Support Hamilton-Wenham Teacher's Health and Safety

Right now is a very hard time. We don't have a lot of answers, but we have some. Some of the things the District has decided are not fair to the teachers. We have very good teachers in Hamilton Wenham. We don't want them to leave for a year, or forever. If our teachers have health issues like heart disease, cancer, lung disease, and diabetes they are very high risk. The School District won't let them teach from home if they have a health issue. This means that they have three options. The first option is to take leave, and the District has to approve it. Some of the leaves have been denied which is unfair. The second option is to teach in person even if their doctors say no. This means the teacher could get infected and get really or even not survive. The third option is to quit teaching in Hamilton Wenham and find somewhere else to teach, or maybe they can't find a job because of COVID. The District should work with teachers and give different options like working from home, plexiglass shields that they can clean, and tents to teach outside. Other schools have worked with their teachers to find the best solution. The district hasn't thought about how to keep teachers safe. We need to work together to keep everyone safe. Please allow high-risk teachers to do remote teaching to stay safe. Please allow teachers to take intermittent leave. Please make the accommodations that our teachers need. Thank you. Riley Crockett
