Hamilton City Council has announced it will not build ANY new playgrounds for the next 10 years!

This will end the popular Destination Playgrounds project and 8 Destination Playgrounds planned for Hillcrest Park, Glenview Park, Bremworth Park, Te Manatu Park, Porritt Stadium, Ashurst Park and Moonlight Drive Reserve.

And there won't be any new pocket parks or neighbourhood playgrounds either.

I have three little boys and the Destination Playgrounds are a godsend to us and all the other families, daycares, kindys, community groups, grandparents, carers and everyone else who uses them. They provide a free day out for families who can't afford to take their kids anywhere else. The destination playgrounds are disability-friendly and are used by special-needs schools and carers of mentally and physically handicapped  adults.

Hamilton Mayor Andrew King says the Council does not have the money for playgrounds.

We say they do and there is nothing more important to spend OUR money on than OUR children.

Hamilton's councillors will vote on the fate of our playgrounds on December 5 and 6. It's not too late to change their minds and let them know that we want our Destination Playgrounds saved!

Please sign this petition and make your voice heard and give a voice to the children of Hamilton, who can't speak for themselves.
