City Council must subsidize medical marijuana for those living on a fixed income.

Medical marijuana is a safe and effective alternative to opioids for the treatment of chronic pain for those who have tried many other medications and found them ineffective. It is also used to treat many other illnesses such as ADD/ADHD, PTSD, gastrointestinal issues, anxiety , depression, sleep disorders, MS and many more. It is not covered by ODSP, OW, or insurance companies and can cost around $90 a month for just a minimum dose. Medical marijuana cannot be purchased at store fronts but rather ordered online from companies that specifically produce this product to ensure the proper chemical content that has been prescribed for that patient. Many of those who live on a fixed income must choose between paying rent, bills, buying food or paying for this desperately needed medication. We want Hamilton City Council to subsidize medical marijuana for those who have been prescribed this because they desperately need this medication but are unable to afford it.
