Halton District School Board needs to contribute to the funding for a "Layby" in front of EJ James PS.

The morning drop-off in front of E.J. James Public School on Cairncroft Drive in Oakville, continues to be hazardous to say the least. Many drivers ignore the posted ‘no stopping’ signs when dropping off their young children. Some drivers park their cars, get out and then enter the school. This blocks traffic, causing huge congestion and extremely unsafe conditions. Others prefer to pull into the already dangerous parking lot and do a u-turn at the entrance directly into pedestrian traffic (using a designated handicap parking spot as part of the u-turn process). The parking lot is not wide enough to facilitate a “kiss and ride” solution. The only solution is to create a designated paved area in front of the school (a layby) on the west side of Cairncroft (as occurs on Devon in front of OTHS).  This will enable all drivers to SAFELY and TEMPORARILY stop to drop their children off at the school without blocking the flow of traffic. We have been told the Town of Oakville is willing to participate in creating a layby; now we need you to commit, too, before something happens that we cannot change. Please make our children’s safety a priority!

We need the HDSB to contribute to the funding for a "layby" in front of EJ James PS.

The morning drop off in front of the school on Cairncroft Dr. continues to be hazardous to say the least. Many parents ignore the posted no stopping signs when dropping off their young children. Some park their cars and get out and enter the school. This blocks traffic, causing huge congestion and extremely unsafe conditions. We need a designated paved area to the side of the main road where parents can safely stop temporarily to drop their children off without blocking the flow of traffic.
