Environmental Bill of Rights for Canada

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

“Globally, we currently consume the equivalent of over 11 billion tonnes of oil in fossil fuels every year. Crude oil reserves are vanishing at the rate of 4 billion tonnes a year – if we carry on at this rate without any increase for our growing population or aspirations, our known oil deposits will last until 2052.” Not only that, but Canada doesn’t have an Environmental Bill of Rights a part of our constitution. An Environmental Bill of Rights guarantees Canadians the right to a clean environment such as the right to clean air and water. There are 110 countries that already have an Environmental Bill of Rights, but sadly Canada isn’t one of those countries. We need the Halton District School Board to sign our petition so Canada can have the right to a healthy environment and an Earth for our future generations. Ultimately, we seek to amend the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to include the right to a healthy environment. We need to start small, with your signature hopefully we could take this to the government and make a big change. Please sign our online petition. Thank you.
