Halt the Installation of a 5G Tower Near Residents & Churchill National Park

The issue

I am a resident in Lysterfield South situated in close proximity to the beautiful Churchill National Park and Lysterfield Lake Park. I believe our idyllic area, is under threat due to the proposed installation of a 30 mt tall 5G Transmission tower at 198-250 Hallam North Road, Narre Warren North, on the corner of Churchill Park Drive.

My primary concern stems from comprehensive studies indicating that long-term exposure to wireless radiation can severely impact our health, and exacerbate existing health issues. These concerns also apply to our magnificent local wildlife, who are seen in our streets and yards daily.

In an era where technological advancements are hailed, it's also crucial to be aware of any detriment they cause. A considerable body of research suggests the potential harm from wireless radiation, however, there are still gaps in long-term studies to ascertain the broad-spectrum impact of this radiation on humans and animals. This lack of comprehensive understanding necessitates caution in going ahead with such installations, especially in areas of ecological sensitivity like ours.

More than just a human habitation, our area is home to a diverse range of native Wildlife and Fauna. They are our pride, our joy. Our closeness to Churchill National Park and Lysterfield Lake Park amplifies our responsibility towards safeguarding their well-being. The installation of this tower could disrupt their biological activities and upset the delicate balance of our ecosystem. Studies have also shown significant impacts to birds and bees.

The lack of clarity about the long-term health effects of 5G to residents, coupled with the potential threats to our local wildlife, makes public consultation a necessity as to whether this tower is appropriate.

It's not technology vs. nature. It's about striking an informed, sustainable balance. With this petition, we call upon relevant authorities to halt the installation until a comprehensive understanding of its effects is achieved and shared widely. It is not just our personal short and long term health at stake, but our shared commitment to the local wildlife & environment.

Please sign this petition to stand with us in protecting our community, our magnificent wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem.
