I am asking Superintendent Jeffery Collum and Hallsville ISD to step-up and reinstate the mask mandate within the schools. We know that masks while uncomfortable do not harm or kill but COVID-19 does. With the Delta variant disproportionately affecting our young people we have to make the right decision instead of the popular one. This isn't a politcal issue this is a humanitarian one. Governor Abbott's order DOES NOT limit the district's rights as an employer and educational institution to establish reasonable and necessary safety rules for its staff and students.
