Yesterday, March 23, 2019, Dex Frier was named one of two "Royal Knight" seniors at the Johnson High School Prom. The voting ballot was not divided on lines of "King" or "Queen" as it had been in past years, rather, it was a list in which two students, regardless of gender, could be voted Prom Royalty. This plan was one of compromise on both sides, and we would like to thank administration, both at the school and county level, for listening and welcoming our concerns—and most importantly, implementing a plan to address them.
Of course, we would also like to thank each and every one of you for supporting us throughout this journey. It has been less than a week and the petition has been signed by more than 30,000 people across the globe. Not only is that number a symbol of the united support of human rights, but also a testament to the power of the individual. The people behind this petition are all normal high school students: we wake up each morning and conduct a typical school day just like millions of other students across the globe. We hope this petition has not only pushed society further towards human rights equality, but also inspired someone to do the same for an issue in their community.
To conclude this petition, we ask that you consider visiting a Gofundme page created by Dex Frier to assist in the funds he needs to begin transitioning. Your support has already been incredible, and with the number of signatures the $7,500 goal could easily be achieved.
Thank you all, your support has meant the world.
