The IV vascular team at the halifax hospital medical system is being terminated as of April 2019 which would be a huge disservice to the paitients who rely on this important feature.

The purpose of the team is to help get IV access to paitients who have poor IV access and have difficulty getting an IV placed under normal circumstances. The vascular team comes in and with the help of an ultrasound machine they place a line in with ease and less pain to the paitients. People who need this service are the chronically ill(such as my self or people with other long term illnesses) , children and infants, the elderly, people with special needs and people who have terrible IV access.

The hospital is terminating this vital service because they claim that they can not afford it, however by ending it they are exposing the paitients that need it to unnecessary pain from multiple sticks and potentially repeat sticks due to poor lines being placed into veins that are not sutied for a line. They also make it difficult for paitients that have special needs that cant endure multiple sticks to try to get a line. They are also ending jobs and leaving all this expensive equipment they they already own just sitting around when it can be used to help save lives.

The goal of this petition is to raise awareness of the issue and to convince the hospital of the vital need of this team and to get them them to reconsider and reinstate the team.
