How the Grinch stole the band concert...
Each year as marking period two roles around, we (symphonic bands) are robbed of the enjoyment and rights to enjoy the holiday season. We are given pieces like The Last Hivemind II and Slavonic Dance No.8 without any say. We will not be silent in this matter. We will have fun this quarter, and that all starts with the signing of this petition. With the signing of this petition, we send a message to Mrs. Sullivan, Mr. Bufis, and the rest of the high and mighty band directors of the world that we stand for democracy in our education. I hope... no, I urge you to sign this petition.
But in all seriousness, this is a symphonic band tradition that was started by a senior a few years back, in which we petition to play a fun holiday song at our winter concert. Each year the song tends to change, but it's just a way to have fun this marking period. With school being back to in-person learning and the new symphonic band split this would be a great way to connect and do something fun before winter break. The song that was chosen this year is... "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" but I'm sure you already know that because of the name of the petition. Let's make this happen!
