Amy Field started this petition to Haldimand County

Traffic concerns and speeding are a HUGE concern in Cayuga, Ontario, with main connections running through the town including Highway 3, Highway 54 and Haldimand Road 17 (Thorburn). Traffic concerns have been going on for years and the township of Cayuga demands change. The traffic concerns noted include excessive speeding within town throughout all hours of the day. The mayor (Ken Hewitt) is not helpful with concerns other than to state “call the police”. Traffic signage, enforcement and other measures need to be taken to ensure the safety of our community.

- more police presence to monitor speeding, accessible noise by exhausts and ticket accordingly

- permanent “your speed” signs on Haldimand Road 17/Thorburn coming into Cayuga and both ends of highway 3

- possible rumble strips coming into town on highway 3 and Haldimand Road 17/Thorburn

- stop light at Joseph St & Haldimand Road 17/Thorburn

- speed bumps near schools

- photo radar on highway 3, Haldimand Road 17/Thorburn and highway 54

- better air brake signage for truck traffic

- add stoplights at highway 3 and Haldimand Road 17/Thorburn and at Tim Hortons intersection

These are just suggestions from the community members that will be put forward as suggestions to help make our community a safer, happier place to live.
