Claire McNeely started this petition to Haines Point Property Owners Association

It has come to our attention that the HPPOA has voted to pass the following amendment to the HPPOA rules:

Flags & Flag Poles.  HPPOA members may display only an American (Stars & Stripes) flag, a State flag or school flag on their property at any time.   Stand-alone Flag poles or a similar structure are not permitted.  Flag poles attached to the home, or small lawn banners are permitted.   Political flags/banners are not permitted.

The above amendment was voted on without the input of other HPPOA members. It also seems to have been voted for in haste and without any consideration of Veterans. To say that a “school flag” may be displayed and exclude any military branch is both impermissible and disgraceful.

The goal of our petition is to obtain enough signatures to have the rule amended as follows.:

HPPOA members may display only an American flag, State flag or Military Branch flag from a stand-alone flagpole. Flags flown from a stand-alone flagpole shall be flown in accordance with Chapter 1 of Title 4 of the United States Code. Flag poles shall not exceed 20 feet in height and flags shall not exceed the size of a storm flag in size.  All other flags to include school, decorative and the aforementioned may be flown by attachment to the home. Political nor business flags shall be flown at any time.

Thank you for your help and show of support to our country, our veterans and the families of veterans.
