Forrest Easton started this petition to Hagerstown Mayor and Council Hagerstown Mayor and Council

We, the people, consisting of Veterans, current military personnel, as well as individuals supporting our Veterans.  We hereby attach our names to this petition requesting the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown, Maryland to authorize the placement of a helicopter to be located at the current Vietnam War Veterans Monument in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The helicopter was a symbolic image of the Vietnam conflict.

The Vietnam Monument is dedicated to ALL Veterans who served their country during the Vietnam era.  The Monument also honors the 17 men from Washington County, Maryland who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Mayor and Council please authorize the placement of a helicopter, mounted on pylons off of the ground, to be added to this monument, which reminds all of us that....

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

The Joint Veterans Council’s monument committee spent more than two years planning and fundraising more than $150,000 to bring the original monument to life.
It features three pieces — two that feature a historical account of the war and recognize the veterans and military branches that served in the war, and a middle piece that memorializes the 17 county residents killed in Vietnam.
The monument was dedicated in March 2019.  This addition would not cost the City of Hagerstown a single dime.
