Fund the Durango Bike Park in 2016

This petition had 523 supporters

Durango has a long and storied cycling culture.  There is a proposed park at Cundiff with bike specific amenities. We believe that it will be a gem of the community for the large and diverse Durango cycling community. From the largest youth cycling development program in the country, Durango Devo, to the 21 time National Champion Fort Lewis College Cycling Team, to the former and current National, World and Olympic level competitors that call Durango home but even more so the many, many Durango locals that enjoy the unsurpassed trail system - the proposed features and skills areas of the park would be enjoyed by all and are a missing aspect in the community plan. Having a park with such features will stem the tide of illegally built or "rogue" trails that are being built in community because there is a demand for such features - often times not safely built. The park would also an ideal place for cyclists of all abilities to develop their skills to get more enjoyment and challenge out of the local trail system in a safe, well built environment. The location at Cundiff Park is in the perfect location next to the BMX track with an ideal grade and area, while also being a centrally located gathering area to access the Animas River Trail only 1 mile from downtown.

Please sign this petition to let the Durango Parks and Recreation Department, Durango Parks and Open Space Advisory Board and the Durango City Council know that funding Cundiff Bike Park in 2016 is important to you and your community.
