Light up Stonebridge Park, Haggerston

The council has been contacted by a small number of residents to an inquiry about the possibility to install lights in the park and therefore to extend the opening hours.
Many other parks are in the borough are open much longer hours because they are lit up at night. We would like the Council to install lights in the park so that it does not have to be closed as early as 17:00 during winter. We are not proposing to open the park 24/7 but to extend the opening hours.
Extending the opening hours will benefit numerous categories of residents:
- kids who want to play in the park after school
- commuters who, on their way back home from work, could cross the park as opposed to walking around it
- dog-owners, who would be able to bring their dogs to the park after work
- anybody who would like to enjoy a little time in the park after a long day at work
We also think that light up the park will reduce dramatically all anti-social behaviour episodes that are occurring on a regular basis once the park is closed and totally dark (drug use, street drinking, littering, etc...).
