Change the Hackley Dresscode to allign with values of self-expression.

For the large majority of people, clothing is tightly tied to their identity and makes them feel comfortable or safe when they have permission to be who they are.
This is a step backwards at a place in time that could’ve been a way to teach expression thru clothing.
Western dress codes have historically been used to create a culture of uniformity which doesn’t allow for self expression. dress codes are based on social expectations which are oppressive.
When the school creates rules preventing girls from wearing sleeveless clothing, or shoulder-less shirts it enforces the culture that girls must obey rules, and supports the idea of toxic masculinity.
If the rule is in part to prevent “distraction” among the student body then why are there rules about policing bodies over behavior.
These changes have been needed for a long time, and we believe they would better the culture among the Hackley community. This can be the start to changing the policies to allign more with the mottos and lessons often preached by the Hackley School Administration.
