*WE ARE WORKING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEAN OF STUDENTS' OFFICE, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE YET TO REACH AN AGREEMENT*

Imagine being three years into a fixed-rate mortgage agreement, and your broker calls you one day and says, "Hey, my colleagues and I just decided to change the agreement we had with you. I know it's your mortgage and you signed for the terms we previously gave you, but we just voted to change it anyways."

This is what just happened at Hampden-Sydney College just forty-eight hours ago (2/4/20). Faculty members who (mostly) did not bother to attend Hampden-Sydney College or sign the honor code voted to change the contract every student signs upon arriving on campus as a freshman. Due to the process by which this change was made, those who actually signed and live under the honor code were given less than 2% representation in the outcome. In the faculty meeting where the final vote was cast, the 2% of H-SC's student body that was represented was not even allowed to speak, much less vote. We as students of the college recognize the questionable legality of violating a binding contract while giving its signees virtually ZERO vote, input, or say in the matter. We petition to revert any changes that have happened, modify the process to PROPERLY include the student body's vote, and restart the process of change.
