Have you ever wished to change something about your body? Everyone does. But why are we fixated on a perfect image we long to be when everyone is
From a young age we are surrounded by bright lights, advertisements and models, however when we are small it can be quite downing to notice that you don’t look like all these body requirements forced in you by society. Society tells us that we should look a certain way, have our hair a certain color and weigh a certain weight. In truth these expectations can be quite damaging.
Around 44% of teenage girls and 15% of teenager boys feel they need to loose weight. Over 70% of girls age 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending school, when they feel bad about their looks. If these stats seem unimportant please take into consideration that suicide is the 3rd main leading cause if death from children age 10-14.
Many teenagers commit suicide or have self harm thoughts due so lack of self esteem and a negative body image. By changing the way clothing us advertised and introducing realistic body standards we could save thousands of teenagers lives.
This petition is a petition for H&M to introduce more diverse models/realistic body stands into their marketing scheme to potentially save thousands of lives and make the world a more positive place!
