You Did It! H-E-B Goes Cage-Free!
Apr 20, 2016 — Thanks to you and more than 25,000 other caring consumers who signed this petition, grocery chain H-E-B has announced its commitment to improving animal welfare by switching to 100 percent cage-free eggs by 2025. The move will spare about 5 million hens a lifetime of suffering in tiny wire cages.
Though cage-free doesn’t mean cruelty-free, this important development does mean a world of difference for hens who will escape the misery of extreme confinement and finally be able to spread their wings. Hopefully, H-E-B’s responsible decision will inspire other food companies to commit to similar policies. It’s high time ShopRite did the right thing and eliminated cages from its egg supply chain.
Please call ShopRite Customer Service at 800-746-7748 now to tell the company to stop cramming birds into cruel cages.
Thank you for being a voice for hens. This announcement by H-E-B further demonstrates that concerned consumers have the power to push companies to make positive changes for animals.
