Why this petition matters

Started by Chris Fletcher

We live in a single family community with all single family homes. This project brings in 425-500 two bedroom apartments and up to ten frontage businesses. We are not against growth but we feel the growth should be consistent with the current surroundings. If they would have proposed a single family home community with the same makeup as our community, there would not be a need for a petition.

The H-22-13 planned community will be directly tied to our community by taking the Dead End Brentlawn St and connecting to the frontage road for he new community. This is at the highest degree of being unacceptable, this makes the back roads through our community now accessible and dangerous.

In the land that is to be developed, there are wetlands to the back of the acreage. We understand they will not be developing in that area, but there sure will be threat to the wetlands and the wildlife in that area. There are protected Gopher Turtles, Eagles and Sand Hill Cranes that live and bread in that area.

The owner/developer of this property has the right to build something out of his land investment. The owner also has a responsibility to do what is right for the area. If this plan goes through, WE lose peace, quiet, wildlife protection, wetland protection, safety, security and privacy. There will also be more trash, water usage (right now we can only water our lawns once a week), water run off, possibly into the wetlands. If the owner makes some concessions to build single family homes that are comparable to our community, it creates the same consistent feel we will be in an area that we moved into.

Lastly, when we bought our home just two and a half years ago, there was no mention of a proposal of an apartment community. We would definitely have looked elsewhere.
