Please help to keep this highly respected and experienced man in a work position that he has perfected. The following statement is from Jeff himself ...

Today I was emailed by the area manager for Belgravia leisure, not the manager, about that I had NOT been successful in ANY position at the new centre. I had a few weeks ago driven to Brisbane for a interview for the aquatic coordinators position I felt this went well I was told I would be notified the following the following Friday, then it was the next Tuesday, then on the Wednesday was notified by the manager I was unsuccessful. Due to lack of experience I have run 3 centres in my time and one was centenary pool in Brisbane near the Herston hospital yes with the diving tower if not one of the busiest pool in qld but yet not enough experience so they said I have done everything and more at pools then you could think about but still not experienced enough. Well I thought a duty manager might be okay, but today I didn't make it through the process. As you may also be aware my wife and I built a learn to swim centre on the Southside ( of Gympie ) 10 years ago a dream for my wife to have her own school some may consider me being employed at the new centre and my wife having her own school a conflict of interest but all I wanted was to run the new pool, a reward I felt i deserved after  22 years of my life at the memorial pool. Well no reward, no thanks from the council,  i am just a number it seems. I know the old girl (memorial pool) is showing its age and probably feeling like most of us as we get older, but she has character. She still looks beautiful and my god she has seen a lot of us through its gates as kids. I will miss her and miss all my friends and families that Liz and myself have had the fantastic honour to know and enjoyed. So in three weeks the day before the new opens it closes Liz and myself, local born and bred will be around, Liz with her swim school deep blue aquatic on the Southside in which will feel the the brunt from the new centre as will the local gyms, but hey we are locals, I love Gympie and it's people. So Belgravia bring it on. Myself, well I'm to young to retire yet so will be out searching for employment again thank you for being part of my family life. And we will see you around, Thank you.
