Why this petition matters

Started by Greg Ambler

You may already be aware that Gwynne School has been temporarily closed as of October 1, 2021.  We have fought hard to have a tentative re-open date of September 2022, though there are many obstacles to still overcome in that time. We, the parents of Gwynne school, are asking for your support to align with us requesting our school to be re-opened sooner, ASAP, to the students, and to be prioritized for repairs in order to stay open permanently.

Many of you already have students within the school or may know friends or neighbors that have students enrolled at Gwynne school.  The transition to say the least has been trying, for our children and our families.  We are asking each community member for your support to help us get our children back in our school. We love our school.  We love the gym with the amazing Christmas concerts each year and the unforgettable 50/50s.  We love the old halls where so many generations of Gwynne families have attended and can still see memories on the walls.  We love the connections the children build with one another and with the staff that could only be harnessed and developed within the small rooms of Gwynne school.  We need your support to show that our school is worth saving, not just for our children but for our community.  It takes a community to raise children and we want ours to be raised here in Gwynne.

Though we have been bringing our concerns to the trustees and to the administration of WRPS, it has been implied that we need more voices to prove how dedicated our community is to saving our school.  So we are here, asking for your voice, your support in our continuing fight for Gwynne school.

If you believe in Gwynne school and support the future of our children’s education through Gwynne school, please print and sign your name below and return to the post office before
January 21, 2022.  By signing this letter, it will signify that Gwynne School is the heart of this community and we will do what needs to be done to make sure it stays in the community.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our letter and your consideration.  We hope the overwhelming support from our Gwynne community members will convince the trustees and WRPS that our school is worth saving.  If you can, please get others to sign this letter that support our school and feel free to also send your own letters/emails to the trustees expressing what the school means to you and for your family so that your own voices can be heard.
