In 1993 and the release of 2nd edition Warhammer 40,000 the Squats had an army list of inside the Codex Army Lists of the boxed set.

This was however, to be their last official army list publication from Games Workshop and the squats were no longer supported in future editions, but merely hinted at:

• 1995 Codex Imperial Guard stated "The Squats of the Homeworks are a proud and independent race that evolved from mankind. They are divided into many leagues. Although Squats and the Imperium have fought long wars in the past, the most powerful Leagues are now firmly allied with the Imperium. At the time of writing, this Codex is planned for future release. You may include troops chosen from the Squats Codex"
• Codex: Eldar (1994) lists them as a possible "Allies" choice. As does, Codex: Space Wolves (1994) and Codex: Ultramarines (1995)
• Codex: Angels of Death (1996) prohibits Dark Angels from allying with Squats while allowing it to the Blood Angels.

Games Workshop have released single models of Squats for Necromunda and have recently run an April's Fool joke staring that Squats were being released. 

This has angered some fans who would like to see their favourite diminutive faction reintroduced into the game. After all Genestealer Cults received a codex...
