Kevin Wharton started this petition to Gun Owners of Knox County

Prelude:  The concerned citizens of Knox County wish to use this resolution and continue the momentum within the state of Tennessee to let the State Government know we want our 2nd Amendment Rights protected.  The term Sanctuary is only intended for the protection of our United States Constitutional rights.  This is not a resolution for or about immigration issues.  Nor is there to be any fundraising in conjunction with this petition!

Whereas: Article 1 Section 26 of the TN State Constitution guarantees the People's right to bear arms for the common defense, and

Whereas: the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantee's the People's the right to bear arms, and

Whereas: the federal government of these Unites States has a history of making laws that infringe on the People's right to bear arms in violation of the 2nd Amendment clause “..shall not be infringed”, and

Whereas: the federal government, working with the Department of Justice, is currently drafting regulations to further violate the People's right to bear arms via Red Flag legislation, and

Whereas: Red Flag laws grossly violate the People's right to Due Process as defined by the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution,

We the undersigned respectfully request that the County Commission of Knox County (Tn) declare the boundaries within their jurisdiction to be a Sanctuary for the Constitutional protection of the Second Amendment, commit to protecting the People's right to bear arms, and to preserve Due Process afforded to them.
