Instant Pay for GrubHub
Instant Pay for GrubHub
Petition for Instant Pay with GrubHub
As a fellow 21st century hustler, I’m making this petition to rally enough support to convince Grubhub to adopt an Instant-Pay system similar to that of their competitors. To give this petition better context, and hopefully turn some heads in the higher ups, here are some arguments to make in favor of this change.
What is Instant Pay?
“Instant pay” or instant direct deposit is a pay model being adopted by many “gig work” platforms, ranging from Uber to GH’s competitors like DoorDash and Postmates. For example, Postmates instant pay model has $5 minimum withdrawals unlimited with a $0.50 fee per withdrawal. This was a flagship model that was so widely positively received that others in the industry either adopted it or lost business and money due to third party services, like Earnin or Daily Pay, or consumers(drivers) outright abandoning the platforms that refuse to adjust to the changing requests of the market.
Why should you care?
There’s an undeniable incentive that has led to instant pay becoming the industry standard going forward and now rivaling the old pay infrastructure in more fields of work even outside “gig” platforms. Control. This model allows consumers(drivers) to have more control over they’re own finances. This is what lead to services like Earnin’ becoming popular anyway, as an alternative service to those who are still working for a company that decides not to adopt the instant pay model. Whether you prefer to cash out weekly, daily, or even hourly, the instant pay model allows you to have complete control over when you want your money, as we all know emergencies can and will happen. It is also just as well accepted as a feature of instant gratification.
Why should Grubhub care?
The competition is stepping up. Instant pay has now started to become an on/off issue with the labor force of gig platforms. Many tech companies have accepted the challenge and reaped the benefits. There is a correlation between DoorDash’s adoption of the instant pay model and now having the largest share of consumers in the food delivery market. Even as DoorDash has pulled 1% ahead of GrubHub, GrubHub Drivers received $2 billion in tips. So GrubHub Drivers made more money with less access to it. Drivers are walking ads(no pun intended). We solicit with all our friends, family, customers, and pets the best and worst of the industry, and how much money we make off our favorite courier platform. Telling strangers how they should try ordering or working for “x” delivery service with promo codes in hand. We’ve also all heard or said, “I don’t make as much money on Postmates, but I need some money right now.”, or “GrubHub has the most fluent delivery system, but at least with DoorDash I can cash out sometime today.” I believe these statements are outdated and a practical issue that can quickly be resolved.
I advocate for GrubHub to adopt the instant pay model for our drivers. I know the lionshare of drivers agree with me and the whole GrubHub family can all advocate for more individual control over our earnings as the industry has shown we can with instant pay.
This is a petition to formally request GrubHub to implement instant pay in the driver’s app.
