Kylee Mora started this petition to Governor Gretchen Whitmer

I have not seen my brother in nearly five years due to the lack of compassion in Michigan’s department of corrections. Now, I’m being told that Cody has been assaulted while being cuffed on his way to segregation because the prisoners did not have access to showers. My family does not deserve to be in the dark about my brother’s health, and we didn’t commit the crime. So, why are we being punished?

My brother has already had two concussions in his life. My family and I are worried that if the violence does not end soon, my brother might lose his life.

Cody grew up to be a person that loved his family more than life itself. My brother would never purposely take a life, and he has never committed any type of sexual assault. Now, I know my brother broke a law. This petition is not to get him out of jail. This petition is for my family, Cody’s friends, and this petition is for every family that has received unfair treatment from Michigan’s department of corrections.

Cody is twenty six years old. He should have a full happy life ahead of him. I’m tired of hearing that my brother is in fear for his life because of the officers that watch the grounds. #freecody
