Whitney and Andrew Chiong are currently being accused of violating Carlisle, Ohio Zoning Ordinance Chapter 1242, which prohibits use of zoned land for agricultural purposes and for keeping livestock.
Much of Ohio law deals with intent. Given this, if miniature pigs kept on a property are not intended to be used for their meat, skin, milk or labor, they should be explicitly regarded as pets, and exempt from zoning ordinances the same way dogs are.
