Houston City Council: Do not raise property taxes
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
Mayor Sylvester Turner has proposed an 8.9% property tax hike for 2018 on Houston. This will be voted on by city council in October. He states that this will raise $117 Million dollars towards Harvey city recovery.
This is an unnecessary hardship on the citizens of Houston who have been through the trauma of Harvey, either through lost wages, lost jobs, lost businesses, and/or especially flooded houses. We will be displaced and rebuilding for many months and years and do not need to have a higher tax bill.
Texas has a $10 Billion dollar rainy day fund that could easily cover this cost without further burdening the good citizens of Houston.
Please let your voice be known that we do not support this increase in property taxes in Houston so that city council can vote the will of the people.
