Petition to Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt to fund Oncotype DX test through Medicare.

During treatment for breast cancer last year it was unclear whether 44 year old mother of one, Naomi Raftery needed chemotherapy. I was advised by my doctors at Bendigo Health to have Oncotype DX testing. This testing helped to clarify how they should proceed but cost $4500. I was fortunate to be able to afford this as the test revealed that I didn't need chemotherapy, but other public patients may not be able to fund this test.
I would like to see Oncotype DX testing publicly funded through Medicare so that good decisions about how to proceed in situations like mine can be made for every person who needs it, not just those who have the money to pay for it. Naomi's local MP, Lisa Chesters has offered to present this petition to parliament in the hope that it will enable this gap in our public health care funding to be recognised and addressed.
